Top 10 iOS 9 HIDDEN Features

There are more then 200 plus new features in iOS 9 and with that comes tones of hidden features. In this article you will discover much or rather top favorite hidden features. With further explanation, let me provide you from 10 to 1 count down.

10. Searchable Settings

Many of us have waited for this for a long time, iOS 8 gave us a hint that it was coming because of Siri, how she would search the settings and turn on toggles. well, it's great to see that it is finally here and can sometimes make your experience better while working out where things are in the settings.

9. Public Transit Is Back Again

It is in some ways better then Google Maps which is weird, Apple has done extra work to impress everyone from iOS 8 Maps release which was a disaster as we all are aware of. Apple is ONLY supporting some cities in the United States of America but as far as out side US, this is to be confirmed by Apple in the future.

8. The Keyboard Turns Into a TrackPad [iPad ONLY]

If you are familiar with the Mac trackpad, it basically works the same as your able to cut, paste, select, move curser by placing two fingers on the keyboard at the same time. In my opinion it is a great feature, soon to migrate to iPhone 6 plus.

7. Picture-In-Picture Video [iPad Only]

This feature is a big deal in iOS as apple never ever before let anything out of an App but this feature while you are watching a video, exit out of the app, it will pop out on the home screen as your able to see in the photo above.

6. Selfie And Screenshot Folders

Yes, iOS 9 is smart, it will automatically save your photos in the right folders, screenshots is pretty normal for a smart to know it screenshot but selfie can be a little hard, Apple has done some amazing work with it, it absolutely gets it right every time.

5. Back Between Apps

This feature was an absolute screamer, first came to iOS with Facebook App and Facebook's Messenger app. As iOS 9 came out to developers, this feature was introduced through out the iOS system, now when your watching a movie or whatever your are doing on an app, when your receive a notification from other apps, you go there and it will show up on the top left hand corner, "Back to whatever you app name"

4. Request Desktop Site

ohh yea! Apple finally decided to give us iOS user the feel of desktop sites, preferably great on iPhone 6 Plus but sometimes some feature of a site don't on mobile sites so you are able to use the desktop on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch.
Here is how to request, on Safari tap and hold the refresh button and an option will pop out.

3. Image Markup

This feature is manly used within the Mail app, if you are sending someone a photo and want to point directly where to look within the photo, well you can. Marking up on photos isn't a new things but it is great to see it within the iOS ecosystem. This is possible by opening your mail app then attacking an image to your message then tap on the image for the option to appear.

2. iCould App [iCould Drive]

If i asked you to look for iCloud app in your phone and you wouldn't be able to find but it is there.
For a student this feature is very handy as your able to upload any file type to the could through this app. For iCloud Drive to be shown on your home screen you would have to go to Settings -> iCould -> iCould Drive  -> Turn Toggle on under "Show on Home Screen".
Now you can access the app and upload anything to it.

1. Low Power Mode

Battery life for many is an issue no matter the circumstances, it will always drain while not charing, there are so many apps that works behind the sense, this feature comes on handy and turns those behind the sense feature of an App off. According to Apple it will give you upto 2 hours of extended battery life, I think that a plus. As a developer, I have been using the iOS 9 for the past 3 months, Battery life is an issue for me but with the help of this NEW feature in iOS 9, I was able to achieve more.
You can manually turn this feature on in the settings or it will automatically ask you when your have low battery.

Great hidden features didn't make the list: take two,

A) Keyboard improvements
It is great to see the keyboard in capital letters when pressing the shift key. This wasn't possible before but here we are with an update.
Some people finds CAPITAL LETTERS offensive, if you are one of them there is an option to turn this feature off.

B) Apple Pay Shortcut
If you are in hurry and can't be bothered to open your phone all the time to choose between cards, Apple haven't forgotten you, this option lets you quickly choose between cards on your lock screen.

C) Disable "Shake To Undo"
Yes you may turn if off but many people considers it helpful and some don't so here is your chance to turn it off by going to Settings -> General -> Accessibility.

D) Detailed Battery Usage

This is great for parents to check where their children is spending most of their time while being on an iDevice. I certainly find this useful as it helps me stay away from my iPhone while possible.
You can too by heading over to Settings -> Battery -> Tap the clock icon.
